A woman has been found dead at a house which was at the centre of a murder case 10 years ago.

The discovery was made at the property in Kintail Court in the Hilton area of Inverness on Thursday afternoon.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are continuing, police said.

Brian Grant was jailed for life in 2007 for killing 39-year-old Inverness woman Ilene O'Connor the year before in a "savage and brutal" attack.

The hairdresser's body was found buried in a garden at Kintail Court.

The trial judge ordered Grant, now 59, to spend at least 14 years behind bars before being considered for release.

A police spokeswoman said on Friday: "Police Scotland were made aware of the sudden death of a woman in the Kintail Court area of Hilton at around 4.45pm yesterday.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

"No further information is available at this time."
