A body has been found following reports of a man trapped in his vehicle in floodwater in Aberdeenshire.

A multi-agency response was launched on Friday 20 October near Marykirk during a red weather warning, where Storm Babet brought extreme rainfall and strong winds to the region.

Police have now confirmed the body of a man and a vehicle have been recovered.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however next of kin have been informed.

Storm Babet has now claimed the lives of three people in Scotland.

On Thursday 19 October a falling tree hit a van near Forfar in Angus, killing 56-year-old driver John Gillan from Arbroath.

57-year-old Wendy Taylor died following an incident at the Water of Lee, Glen Esk, also on Thursday.
