Body Found In Banff Believed To Be Missing Lachlan Simpson
Police believe a body recovered at Whitehills Harbour, Banff on Wednesday may be that of the missing person Lachlan Simpson.
The 22-year-old from Embo has not been seen since the early hours of Sunday 26 July after leaving the Sutherland Show dance in Dornoch.
Formal identification has still to be concluded and officers from Aberdeenshire and the Highlands are working closely with the Procurator Fiscal's Office.
The family of Lachlan Simpson have said: "Police Scotland has kept us informed of the discovery of a body yesterday and they will continue to keep us updated on progress.
"We want to thank the public for their support during the search for Lachlan and would ask that our privacy be respected whilst these enquiries are carried out." Dozens of volunteers had helped in the search for Lachlan alongside police helicopters, sniffer dogs and the coastguard.
