Caley Thistle have announced that striker Billy Mckay has signed a new deal with the Championship club which should see him at Inverness until the summer of 2025.

Across his three spells with ICT, Billy has played almost 250 games and has scored 100 goals. Mckay now sits just one goal away from equalling Dennis Wyness’ goalscoring record for Inverness.

He was also voted as both the Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Year last term and he also won the club’s goal of the season award.

Mckay had drawn interest from Ayr United with a bid from Somerset Park to tempt the former Northern Ireland international south.

The forward's 19 goals last term had made him a target while he was out of contract. Mckay also caught the eye for his goalscoring exploits as last term also included a brace in the 3-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Falkirk.

He joined ICT initially back in 2011 from Northampton Town and during his initial first spell at the club, he scored 62 goals in 141 games before joining Wigan Athletic in January 2015.

Billy would return to Caley Thistle for a brief loan spell in January 2017, before he then returned the club for third time in the summer of 2021 on a permanent basis.

ICTFC Head Coach Billy Dodds said: “We’re delighted that Billy has extended his stay with the club. Billy is a key player for us, he was our top scorer last season and is an ultimate professional.”

“While he had offers from a number of clubs, some of whom were competitors in the Championship, the club had worked hard to make sure that Billy helps get us back into the Premier League and stays where he belongs, here at Caledonian Stadium.”
