A Fraserburgh family, which the police claimed were missing, have been traced safe and well in Portugal.

Daniela Do Vale Goncalves, 21, posted a Facebook live video last week saying she was in Lisbon on holiday.

But Police Scotland continued to appeal for her and partner Mark Hendry, 21, to get in touch to make sure they and a two-month-old daughter and one-year-old son were all alright.

The force had claimed that concerns were raised by a partner agency.

Last week Daniela posted a Facebook live video in which she showed two babies sleeping in a pram, and said to her camera phone: "We're not missing guys. Nobody kidnapped us. We're ok. We're fine. It's sunny. It's roasting. The kids are ok. That's Lisbon. Look, it's so sunny."

Sergeant Martin MacDougall said: "As highlighted in our earlier appeals for information, whilst social media and the media can be extremely useful in tracing missing people we have to be completely satisfied of the welfare of all those reported before we stand down our investigations, in particular when young children are involved.

"In the case of any missing person our ultimate aim is to ensure that those who have been reported missing have come to no harm when genuine concerns are raised.

"With assistance from international counterparts we can confirm this has now been done."
