Appeal after man seriously assaulted in Elgin

Police say they are reviewing CCTV footage of two possible male suspects

A 24-year-old man has sustained serious facial injuries after being assaulted by two men in Elgin last night.

The incident took place at around 8:45pm in Meadow Crescent.

He is currently being treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and is described by staff as being in a stable condition.

Sergeant Kevin Ritchie from the local Violence Reduction Unit said:

"Our enquiries into this incident are at an early stage.

"We are reviewing CCTV footage to gather more information to identify two male suspects wearing dark-clothing who were seen in the area at the time.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed this attack take place, or who has any information that may assist our investigation to get in touch through 101 quoting the number 3499 of October 7.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
