Aberdeen ex-pat feels "lucky to be safe" after Tropical Storm Harvey

An Aberdeen man living in storm-ravaged Houston says he’s lucky to still be in his home.

Kris Niddrie, who lives in the Texas city with his wife Sarah is telling Northsound News things are calming down, with drier conditions than at the weekend, when Tropical Storm Harvey brought record rainfall, leaving large parts of the city underwater, homes destroyed and more than 20 people reported dead.

A night time curfew is now in place, as authorities try to prevent looting while communities come to terms with severe flooding as the storm water is allowed to run off.
