64-year-old man dies following A9 crash

A three-vehicle crash on the A9 has left one man dead and four needing treatment.

Emergency services rushed out to the scene near Kingussie after the incident was reported at around 6:45pm.

A 64-year-old driver of a silver Ford C-Max travelling south was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men driving north, the 41-year-old driver and 20-year-old passenger, in a white Mercedes Sprinter carrying a small tractor on a trailer were checked over by paramedics.

A 61-year-old woman who was driving a Renault Captur and a 79-year-old man were also treated at the scene.

The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out and reopened around 4am on Thursday, 13 October, 2022.

Highlands and Islands Road Policing Sergeant Alasdair MacKay said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

"As we continue our enquiries into the circumstances I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or who has relevant dash cam footage of the area at the time, to contact us."
