4 Military Personnel In Hospital After Car Smash

The men were struck by a vehicle on the road between Ardersier and Fort George.

Four miltary personnel are in hospital after being struck by a car in a Highland village.

A vehicle - driven by another army staff member - ploughed into the group in Ardersier, close to Fort George this morning.

One man had to be airlifted from the scene to Raigmore Hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The driver was not hurt in the incident and did not need treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 09:17 hours this morning, Police Scotland received a report of a serious one vehicle road traffic collision on the carriageway midway between Fort George and the village of Ardersier. "As a result of the collision; which involved a car and four male pedestrians, one person was airlifted and three were taken to Raigmore hospital by road ambulance.

"It is known that at this time none of the injuries sustained to any of the pedestrians is life threatening. "The male driver of the car did not receive any injuries as a result of the collision. "Police can confirm that the pedestrians and driver involved in the collision are military personnel."

Authorities are treating the incident as a road collision, and stress there is no link to terrorism.
