Drugs with an estimated street value of £117,000 have been seized in the Highlands in the last seven days.

It’s all part of Operation Ram, with properties searched in Caithness, Ross-shire, Inverness and Nairn.

17 people have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Detective Inspector Peter MacKenzie of the Divisional Intelligence Unit said: “Tackling drugs is one of top priorities for Police Scotland and the action taken over the last week demonstrates our commitment to dealing with this issue. The Highlands and Islands remain safe places to live but can still be exposed to those determined to cause harm by peddling illegal drugs into our communities. “In tackling drug trafficking it is vitally important that we continue to listen to the communities we serve and gather intelligence from the public which helps us target serious organised crime groups and drug dealing activity. The information provided enables us to bring such operations to a successful conclusion and reduce the harm that drugs cause once in our community. “Local police officers along with specialist units including CID, search units and police dog units were utilised across the Division during the course of the operation.”
