A major musical fundraiser has benefited the Special Care Baby Unit at Raigmore Hospital to the tune of £11,000.
SCBUSTOCK, which was held in February, is the brainchild of musician Kris Douglas and his wife Stephanie, who had the idea after their son Sam spent time in the unit.
The event provided an eclectic musical mix from local bands and artists and has been hailed a success after Kris, Stephanie and Sam handed over a cheque for £11,000 to the unit this week.
Staff midwife Sharon Lawrence, who accepted the donation, said: “It was lovely to see Sam again this week, and Stephanie and Kris of course. We’re so lucky in this unit that everyone is so generous. The amount of effort that goes into fundraising is very much appreciated by everyone here and we really can’t thank them enough for this very kind donation.”
The money raised will be put towards the refurbishment of the unit which will make the ward a more welcoming environment for patients, their families and staff.
