If you have a brother or sister, then growing up you probably didn't always see eye-to-eye, but you might be closer than ever as an adult.

Whatever age you are, here are a number of things that you can probably relate to if you have a sibling, as we celebrate National Siblings Day on Sunday 10th April 2022.

15 things you will definitely relate to if you have a sibling:

1. You had to hide the treats so they wouldn't eat them

And if that didn't work you'd secretly hate them for the rest of that day!

2. You learned how to forgive and forget because of them

They stole your best toy and then you were forced to get along as you had to live together.

3. You always had someone to play with growing up.

Even if they weren't your first choice!

4. You covered for each other

The solidarity of not admitting who did it led to phrases from parents like 'Oh did a ghost do it?'

5. You felt your parents liked them more

Everyone always thinks the other one is getting preferential treatment.

6. You had plenty of scraps when you were younger

You'd never dream of fighting a friend yet engaged in quite a few with your sibling.

7. The oldest tested the boundaries

Sometimes there were consequences but it paved the way for the younger sibling to have more fun.

8. They knew exactly how to wind you up

And they loved doing it!

9. The battle for the front seat

Many of arguments were had over who was sitting in the front of the car.

10 The rivalry never really disappears

Even as adults there's still a silent competition.

11. You had to learn to share

Nothing was ever truly only yours (hence hiding the treats).

12. You will have a bond like no other

You are able to love them even if they drive you crazy!

13. If you were younger you got their old clothes

Even if they didn't fit properly!

14. You were subjected to awkward poses in family photos

You still can't look at some of these!

15. Finally, the youngest got away with everything

"It wasn't me!"
