Just days after the BBC confirmed a third series of their popular drama The Split, bosses over at ITV excited TV drama fans once again by revealing that series four of Unforgotten would arrive later in February!

Well, the time has come - series 4 of Unforgotten starts TONIGHT (Monday 22nd February) on ITV at 9pm. Here's everything you need to know about the show...

When is Unforgotten on TV?

The popular show, which features Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar as main characters DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunny Khan, returns to our TV screens on Monday 22nd February at 9pm on ITV.

The news was confirmed on Wednesday 10th February, with bosses writing on social media, 'No case stays Unforgotten forever. Series 4 returns 22nd February to ITV and ITV Hub.'

Since series one first hit our TV screen back in 2015, Unforgotten has become massively popular with fans, with the series receiving a number of BAFTA Awards and nominations.

Speaking about the upcoming new series, writer Chris Lang said, “I am so excited to be bringing back the Unforgotten team for a fourth series, as Cassie and Sunny take on perhaps their most challenging case to date. Once again, we have assembled an astonishing cast.”

As well as Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar reprising their roles for series four, a number of high-profile television actors have also been cast in the popular show.

Returning to the show are actors Pete Egan (Downtown Abbey), Alastair Mackenzie (Cold Feet), Caroline Main (Grantchester), Lewis Reeves (Inspector George Gently), and Jordan Long (Prime Suspect).

Meanwhile, joining the show are actors Sheila Hancock (New Tricks) Susan Lynch (Killing Eve), Phaldut Sharma (EastEnders), Liz White (Ackley Bridge), Andy Nyman (Peaky Blinders), Clare Calbraith (Little Boy Blue), and Lucy Speed (Marcella).

What is Unforgotten series four about?

Just like the three previous series of Unforgotten, series four will focus the unravelling of a historical crime, led by main characters DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) and DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar).

According to bosses, series four will begin with the discovery of a dismembered body in a scrap metal yard which the team believe has been stored in a domestic freezer for thirty years.

After identifying the victim as a man in his mid-twenties called Matthew Walsh, thanks to a unique Millwall Football Club tattoo, the investigation later reveals he went missing in March 1990.

They story then unfolds with six, hour long episodes, shown weekly on ITV.

Speaking about the new series, Mainstreet Pictures’ Sally Haynes and Laura Mackie said, "We are proud to have made a fourth series of Unforgotten. Chris has created yet another memorable and emotional story that we are sure will delight the series’ loyal viewers."
