With May half-term taking place across most of the UK next week, fans of ITV daytime show This Morning were excited to see married couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes back on their screens, taking the place of usual hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as they take the week off.

HOWEVER, despite ITV confirming late last year that Ruth and Eamonn would be back during the school holidays, after being cut and replaced from their usual Friday slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, it's now been revealed they won't feature next week.

After it was announced today that Alison and Dermot would be taking the reigns, This Morning fans flocked to social media to express their disappointment.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: 'We want Eamonn and Ruth next week, they usually do the holidays, hope they are okay #ThisMorning'.

Another then commented: 'Alison and Dermot all next week? Nah? That’s not the bloody deal! They said we’d get Eamonn and Ruth in the holidays so where are Eamonn and Ruth? This takes the biscuit #ThisMorning,'

Another added: 'No Eamonn and Ruth next week, that’s unusual they always do the holidays. #ThisMorning, with another writing: 'I love Alison and Dermot (especially Dermot) and love that they’re on all next week (as per promo)... but what about Ruth and Eamonn? I thought we were getting them every holiday? I love those two. @thismorning #ThisMorning.'

It was revealed back in November last year that Alison and Dermot would be taking over Ruth and Eamonn's usual Friday slot, with Ruth wishing the pair all the best on social media.

Seemingly having no hard feelings, Ruth wrote: 'It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

'It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.' (sic)
