Despite the nation being forced to wait an additional 15 minutes for the brand new series of The Great British Bake Off to land (due to Boris Johnson's latest speech), 12 new bakers took to the famous tent to show off their skills, with some MAJOR blunders along the way.

As comedian Matt Lucas joined Noel Fielding to present the show, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were back to give their culinary opinions on all of the bakes during Cake Week on Tuesday 22nd September.

We saw soggy bottoms, splattered pineapple-upside down cakes and of course, THOSE hilarious attempts at celebrity cakes.

Just like most years, the Internet being the Internet went into complete meltdown at the new series of GBBO, so we've gathered the most hilarious memes from Cake Week...

With Matt Lucas' opening impression of Boris Johnson, Sura causing Dave to drop his cakes, and those awful celebrity cakes, many dubbed Tuesday night's episode 'the best opening episode of GBBO ever'.
