Now that this year's celebrities and professionals have been revealed, fans of popular dancing show Strictly Come Dancing are buzzing for the 20th series to land on Saturday 17th September.

As this year's hopefuls prepare to start training, BBC bosses have now confirmed the amazing news that Strictly will return to Blackpool following a two-year absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As well as confirming the show will broadcast live from the famous Blackpool Tower, bosses also confirmed other themes for the upcoming series, including a new special BBC 100 themed week.

Sarah James, Executive Producer for Strictly Come Dancing, said: “We know how much viewers love the Strictly themed weeks so it’s fantastic to be able to announce a new one, celebrating the BBC’s centenary. It’s the icing on the cake to be able to confirm that we are returning to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom this year, we can’t wait to get back to Blackpool!”

To celebrate 100 years of the BBC, the 20th series will feature a brand new themed episode which will see this year's couples take to the Strictly ballroom floor, either dancing to a theme tune from an iconic BBC programme or in tribute to one of the BBC’s most loved services.

The amazingly-talented professional dancers will also perform two special routines, as well as 'gate-crashing' other iconic BBC shows.

As well as the return to Blackpool, the 2022 series of Strictly will also include fan-favourite themes such as Movie Week, Halloween Week, Musicals Week.

I've always watched it, apart from a brief hiatus in 2011 as I was relentlessly gigging every weekend (to try and get on Strictly). I've been a massive fan of the show for years.
