As any Stranger Things fan will know, the third season of the popular Netflix series has been endlessly teased for the past six months, however the exact date that we'll get to see the new series has been long under wraps - until NOW that is!

Starting the year off with the very exciting news, Netflix have confirmed that Stranger Things 3 will be released on 4th July - the USA's Independence Day. The date was confirmed across the show's socials, showing the infamous Stranger Things children, looking up at a sky full of fireworks.

The artwork was captioned, 'happy 2̶0̶1̶9̶ 1985!', with the words, 'One summer can change everything.' written across it.

Fans of the popular TV show couldn't contain their excitement tweeting comments such as, 'Ahhhhhh so excited !!', '😁😁😁😁😁😁😁', and 'Holy s--t!!! It's 1985 😨😨'.

Eleven is a mysterious young girl with psychokinetic powers. She was found in the woods by Mike and his friends, the day after their friend Will disappeared. To start off with, the character doesn't talk much – but her acting is mesmerising to watch!

Many of the cast also took to their socials to confirm the exciting news, with Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, saying, 'Hope you are excited as I am! July 4 @StrangerThingsTV #StrangerThings3'.

Millie's co-star Noah Schnapp who plays Will Byers also took to Instagram with the same artwork saying, 'HERE WE GO. AGAIN! JULY 4TH'.

In December, Netflix released a teaser trailer for Stranger Things 3 revealing the episode titles for the upcoming series. Set in the summer of 1985, the title are Suzie, Do You Copy?, The Mall Rats, The Case of the Missing Lifeguard, The Sauna Test, The Source, The Birthday, The Bite, and The Battle of Star Court.

The third season of Stranger Things has been long-awaited as it has been over a year since the second season was released back on Halloween 2016!
