As fans wait for the return of the likes of Killing Eve and Bodyguard, the BBC have delighted viewers by revealing when popular police drama Line of Duty will return for series 5, and it's not long.

Taking to Twitter, bosses revealed anti-corruption unit AC-12, made up of characters DS Kate Fleming, Superintendent Ted Hastings and DS Steve Arnott, will return to our screens on Sunday 31st March!

Fans of the show were clearly very excited at the news, one user wrote, 'OMG can't wait', with another writing, 'yes! best show on TV'. sic

The news comes after bosses released the first teaser trailer earlier this month, showing the AC-12 officers working on a case which involves a hijack leaving three members of the police force dead, with DS Kate Fleming revealing to her team that the hijack involved a police insider.

Creator Jed Mercurio teased what is in store for series 5, revealing AC-12 will be focussing their attention on a 'organiased crime group', rather than a single officer.

Speaking about the news series, Jed, who also created Bodyguard, said, "That is the fresh ground that we break in the series. We've had these shadowy figures, 'the Balaclava Men', who are part of an organised crime group and have featured on and off all through the previous four seasons. But we've never really gone behind the mask and identified them as proper characters and found out about them."

Line of Duty returns to our TV screens on Sunday 31st March.
