It's been a West End favourite for many years, a feature film starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, and now a TV series of Les Misérables, with Lily Collins portraying the role of Fantine (Anne Hathaway's character in the film) has been made.

Whilst many already know the story of Les Misérables, lead star Lily has now revealed the extent of the huge transformation she underwent as part of her role, from a beautiful young lady to a mentally and physically abused woman.

In the series of Instagram photos shared by the actress - and now liked over 1 million times - she reveals a step-by-step look at her character through the series and it is quite remarkable.

Lily captioned her photos, 'In honor of Fantines death in last night’s episode, here is her progression from beginning to end. This has been such a transformative experience, literally and figuratively.'

Continuing, 'Thank you again so much to the incredible hair and makeup team headed by the impeccable Jackie Fowler and specifically my insanely talented key artist Rowena Dean.
