James Corden has described the latest Gavin and Stacey special as a 'nostalgic joy-bomb'.

It comes after James revealed on Instagram that he and co-star Ruth Jones had written a new, one off Christmas special which will be aired on Christmas Day.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, he said: "We owed it to the characters. Let's see what they're doing. We wanted to see if there was something there. Once there was, my feeling was, life's too short".

"Fear is the absolute reason to do it. This sounds ridiculously deep but none of us are promised tomorrow. We're here for a minute, you have to try to do it all".

Discussing storylines, James said him and Ruth had thought about mentioning Brexit but they "just wanted the new show to be a nostalgic joy-bomb" AND we will never find out what happened on THAT suspicious fishing trip! But wouldn't that just ruin the mystery?

We're just excited for some more iconic moments!

Other cast members have also dropped hints about the storylines but are remaining very tight lipped!

What do the Gavin and Stacey cast look like now?!

Matthew Horne, who plays Gavin, says the character will be a 'tired dad' with an 'almost grown-up child'. He said: "There's very, very little I can give away. I think the audience will be pleasantly surprised and warmed by what they see. I have every confidence people are going to really like it".

"The script is really beautiful, it's really funny and it's really heartwarming. There'll be laughter and tears". Larry Lamb has already admitted to crying when he read the script.
