Writer and comedian Sara Pascoe has been announced as the new host of The Great British Sewing Bee.

Sara will take on presenting duties of the popular show, replacing fellow comedian Joe Lycett who has stepped down after three series.

She will join judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young on the show which aims to find the UK's best amateur sewer when it returns to BBC One next year.

Sewing Bee shared the news on it's official Twitter account. They wrote: 'We're bursting at the seams with joy that @sarapascoe will be joining Sewing Bee as our new host. Welcome to the family, Sara! #SewingBee'

The 40-year-old, who appeared as a contestant on The Great British Sewing Bee's 2020 Christmas celebrity special, said that becoming the show's host was "an honour".

She continued: "I'm so inspired by creativity and skill and I am deeply in love with clothes so I can't think of a happier place to be."

Her friend Joe Lycett said he was "absolutely thrilled" she had got the job. He added: "I loved the three series I did, but I can't wait to see how she makes the haberdashery her home."

Sara will host the eighth series of the popular show, which was presented by Claudia Winkleman for the first four series, before Joe Lycett took over.
