Game of Thrones fans will be pretty bereft after next Monday (20th May), as the final ever episode of the fantasy series will be airing. After eight seasons, GOT will be ending once and for all - and we're still no nearer to finding out who will end up on the Iron Throne!

Although the main series, based on the books of George R. R. Martin, will be coming to an end, HBO aren't exactly going to miss out on the opportunity to capitalise on the popularity of the franchise, and a spin-off series is on the way.

Not too many details are known about Bloodmoon at this point, but the official synopsis has revealed that we will find out more about the 'horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers'.

Bloodmoon, which is known to have Naomi Watts signed on to star, has now begun filming in Belfast - which is also where a lot of Game of Thrones was filmed - and a TV source has confirmed that work has started.

They said, "Thrones fans will be delighted to hear things have started with the prequel. Those working on the set in Belfast are referring to the series as Bloodmoon.

"Producers have put together a stellar cast and it will be must-watch telly for anyone who loves Game Of Thrones."

Take a trip down memory lane to see how the Game of Thrones cast looked then vs. now...

The official synopsis for the show reads, 'Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

'And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.'
