Mandy is determined to set her son Vinny up with Liv and invites them both to the café without telling the other in the hopes that sparks will fly.
But Liv is unimpressed, having already come out as asexual, and makes a swift exit, leaving Vinny mortified and Mandy confused.
When Vinny explains to Mandy the actual meaning of asexual, Mandy is shamefaced and Vinny extends a heartfelt apology to Liv on behalf of his mum.
Later on, Mandy overhears Tracy talking about her pregnancy and is overcome with a sense of melancholy and unease about past experiences.
Back at home that evening, Vinny is surprised to find his mum crying and soon she confides in him that she lost a baby before he was born.
An emotional Mandy implores Vinny not to tell his dad what she's just revealed but is panicked when she hears footsteps on the stairs.
Just then, Paul appears at the bottom of the stairs and Mandy is mortified to realise he's heard everything she's just told Vinny.
Soon, Mandy and Paul are rehashing everything that went wrong between them and Paul's full of relief to hear that Mandy forgives him.
Later on, Vinny pops back to borrow some cash and realises his dad is upstairs with Mindy. Vinny helps himself to some cash in Paul's pocket but pulls out a betting slip instead.
Later on, Vinny confronts his dad about what he found and Paul seems devastated to admit that he's been gambling again.
The next day, Liv goes to answer her front door and is surprised to find there's no one there but a gift has been left on her doorstep. Who is it from?
The anniversary of baby Grace's death is approaching and Chas and Paddy's relationship is hanging in the balance, both of them on edge.
While Aaron turns to Bear for advice on how to help them get their relationship back on track, they're interrupted by the couple rowing.
Chas storms off, leaving Bear to look after baby Eve and wondering how on earth they'll ever be able to rectify things between them.
Chas heads over to the Zen Gardens for headspace and is surprised to find Al there already, attempting to avoid Rishi.
When Al points out that Chas is also there to hide, Chas concedes and the two flirt harmlessly. But when Al eventually heads off, Chas is left all aglow.
Everyone is concerned about Manpreet when she refuses to open up about Meena and why she won't talk to her or explain what happened.
When Meena turns up at the house begging for a reconciliation, Manpreet makes it clear she's not interested and sends her away.
Later on, Meena is approached by Tracy in the street who lays into her for not settling up her B&B bill, leaving Meena intimidated.
Witnessing the exchange, Rishi steps in and offers to pay the bill, wanting to get to the bottom of things. But he's shocked when a furious Manpreet explains why she's really estranged from her sister.
Tracy's having a weird time of her own as she opens up to Cain about her pregnancy and not feeling ready to have a baby, but Cain is unsympathetic.
Elsewhere, Billy calls into Dawn's office and once again expresses his love for her, desperate to know why they can't be together.
Dawn fights back tears as she struggles to find the words to explain the full extent of why she has to end their relationship.
But it turns out she doesn't need to when a police officer arrives to arrest her on suspicion of the murder of D.I. Malone.
