Emmerdale have announced that two brand new cast members will be joining the soap later this year. One of them will be a familiar face to fans of Soapland, having previously played a pretty central character in Coronation Street.

Reece Dinsdale, who is joining the Dales as Paul, a character from Mandy Dingle's past, is well-known for his role on Corrie as Joe McIntyre, the father of Michelle Keegan's character Tina and former husband of Gail Platt who accidentally died whilst trying to fake his own death for insurance money.

Of joining the show, Reece revealed that he's recently been working on the soap, although in a different type of role, "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.

"Having recently directed a couple of episodes, and seen at close quarters the superb work the cast, crews and creatives produce, I can't wait to become part of the team once again... albeit in a different capacity. Time to get my acting boots back on!"

Also joining him in a new role is Mark Womack, who's married to former EastEnders star Samantha Womack AKA Ronnie Mitchell. Mark will be playing a policeman with a dark past named DI Malone.

He said, "It’s always a lot of fun to play the bad guy and Malone definitely falls into that category. I'm looking forward to the audience seeing his twisted tale unfold on screen."
