Emmerdale bosses have today announced the soap will drop down to just two episodes per week from the week beginning 8th June, to avoid the soap having to be pulled from air after filming was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The soap, which is already running at a reduced schedule of three episodes per week, will be shown on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV, for three weeks before the soap goes back up to three episodes per week.

The episodes aired in this three week period will be the special lockdown episodes which bosses announced last week, which have all been filmed whilst adhering to the current social distancing rules.

The six new episodes will be recorded at Emmerdale's studio in Leeds and will feature the following cast members:

Episode One: Cain and Aaron (Jeff Hordley and Danny Miller)

Episode Two: Chas and Paddy (Lucy Pargeter and Dominic Brunt)

Episode Three: Sam and Lydia (James Hooton and Karen Blick)

Episode Four: Marlon, Al and Ellis (Mark Charnock, Michael Wildman, Aaron Anthony)

Episode Five: Mandy and Vinny (Lisa Riley and Bradley Johnson)

Episode Six: Jimmy and Nicola (Nick Miles and Nicola Wheeler)

"We’ve been doing our best to carry on filming, whilst adhering to the Government’s latest health guidelines, to ensure we’ve episodes of both soaps airing on ITV until at least the early summer.

"However, the health and well-being of the production teams, actors, crew and their families is of paramount importance to us and we now feel that the time has come to stop filming. We’d like to thank our viewers for their support and hope they continue to enjoy both soaps in the coming months.“
