The next batch of Dancing On Ice celebrity skaters will hit the ice this weekend, but Rachel Stevens will unfortunately miss the show on Sunday (23rd January) due to a wrist injury she sustained in training.

In a statement, the show said: 'Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday's show. We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend.'

Rachel, who is paired with pro skater Brendyn Hatfield, fell on the ice during training this week and has sustained a fracture to her wrist.

The former S Club 7 star will skate for the first time in Week 3 on Sunday 30th January.

Despite the show hoping for a smoother series than last year, that saw a number of celebrities quit, it is facing a few hiccups as Happy Mondays star Bez has confirmed he’s tested positive for COVID-19.

Bez told the Daily Star: "I've had a positive test. I'm gutted because I'm going to be missing training but I'm looking forward to skating on the show again for Week Three and I'll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend."

Luckily for Bez, he won’t be needed in the second live show, as her performed during Sunday night's launch show, skating to 'Step On' by Happy Mondays – complete with watermelon helmet.

The judges only scored the pair a total of 12.5, meaning they were bottom of the leaderboard but lived to see another day. Entertainment presenter Ria Hebden and her skating partner Łukasz Różycki found themselves in the bottom two.

The first celebrity will leave the competition on Sunday 23rd January 2022.
