Dancing On Ice 2018 winner revealed
The 2018 champion has been crowned!
Last updated 29th Mar 2022
After months of training, nine weeks of live shows and nine eliminations, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield hosted the final of Dancing On Ice 2018 this evening. Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent was the final girl standing, with rugby ace Max Evans and former star of The X Factor Jake Quickenden all battling it out to be crowned the winner.
Brooke, Jake and Max made it to the final after impressing the audience at home and the ice panel, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo. The final three saw off competition from the likes of Love Island winner Kem Cetinay, Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring and Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford, to grab their place in the final.
The first dance for each of the celebrities was choreographed by legendary skaters and Dancing On Ice judges Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean. First on the ice was Jake, who had topped the leader board the week before and got not just the first ten of the series but a perfect score of 40. He performed a group routine to Elvis Presley’s ‘Little Less Conversation’ and overcame his thumb injury that he’d sustained earlier in the week. Jake received the highest praise from the judges with Jane pointing out that Jake fit right in with the professionals, “I was trying to spot the celebrity”.
Next on the ice was Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent who skated to Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie In A Bottle’. Jane told Brooke she was “proud” of Brooke for “always wanting to give it a go”. Chris then added “that’s the best I’ve seen you perform”.
The third finalist, rugby star Max Evans, skated to Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born To Be Wild’. Ashley Banjo said it was a “great performance” and that he believed Max “delivers every week”.
The next skate gave the celebrities the chance to perform their favourite routine of the series. Jake opted to perform his dance from disco week, with added tricks and lifts, as well as performing the headbanger again! Jake said after his performance that he threw “everything he had in the locker” at the routine. Ashley said it was his favourite performance of the entire series by any skater and Jason Gardiner credited Jake for not only striving for more but also delivering.
Brooke performed the routine that changed everything and the one where they became serious contenders. Jason said the routine was electrifying when first performed in week 7 but they’d topped it. Ashley then called it a “landmark moment” for Brooke.
Max chose to perform his routine from week 1, with added extras. Even though he struggled with one of the lifts he continued well and the judges praised him afterwards. Ashley called the routine “stunning” and Jason commented on how far the rugby player had come. However it wasn't enough to see him through to perform the famous Bolero.
As the votes were being counted, audiences were treated to an incredible performance by British ice skating champions Torvill and Dean. If we were scoring, this would be a ten!
So then it was time for the big reveal. As Jake and Brooke stood nervously awaiting the results it was revealed that the winner was in fact Jake and his partner Vanessa! Congratulations!
