Audrey agrees to look after Max for the day, bringing him to work at the salon. Max overhears Audrey telling Cathy that she wouldn't blame Shona for leaving David.

Once Cathy's hair is rinsed it's clear that something is wrong. Exposing jet black roots, Audrey soon realises that Max has tampered with the dye.

Shona is set to visit David in prison the following day and Audrey advises her to tell him about Max – but when David expresses relief that Max is finally settling down, Shona can't bring herself to be honest.

Things go from bad to worse when Shona receives a call from the school saying that Max has been trying to sell his ADHD drugs in the playground. Shona despairs, and Leanne says it's time to come clean to David.

The next time Shona visits David in prison, he's furious to learn that Max has been acting up and that Shona has been hiding it from him.

Meanwhile, auditions for the school musical are starting and Dev is concerned when Asha says that she's got no interest in getting involved.

Normally she's so excited about performing, and so Amy decides she's going to put her name down for auditions anyway. Asha reluctantly agrees to audition.

Later on that week, Amy calls in at No. 7 to practise for their audition but as Asha sings her song, Amy is shocked to noice blood seeping through the sleeves of her top.

Realising that Amy must think she's self harming, Asha admits that she's had an allergic reaction to the skin lightening cream she's been using.

Amy is upset, and tells Asha that she has to stop using it, and if she doesn't she'll tell her dad.

Chesney and Gemma go for a routine scan and are left panicked when the doctor tells them that one of the babies is much smaller than the others.

Paul is still seething at Kel, but after hearing Gemma's news resolves to play happy families. Billy is suprised to find Paul at the pub with Kel and Bernie laughing over old pictures.

Taking a look at the photos himself, Billy is alarmed to see just how young Paul looked at the time he was involved with Kel.

Later on when they're alone Billy gently raises the subject of Paul's affair with Kel – but Paul flips and tells Billy that although he was underage, he was still consenting and that he loved Kel.

Hearing that Ryan's been accepting DJ gigs at a local hotel, Gary is furious that Ryan is earning but still hasn't paid him back his debt.

Cornering Ryan in an alleyway, Gary demands his money but Ryan insists that the gigs are unpaid and he's turned down shifts at the Bistro to play them, so he has no money.

Unable to control his anger, Gary attacks Ryan, kicking him to the floor and telling him he needs to pay him back soon - or else.

Bloodied and bruised, Ryan gives Gary £200 and begs him to accept it for now. In order to hide their scuffle, Gary props Ryan up as they head into the Rovers and insist he's been mugged.

But Gary doesn't know that the whole incident has been recorded. Having hired a private detective to follow Gary, Adam mulls over what to do with the info.

Adam confides in Imran and the two of them decide to call a meeting with Ryan in the cafe.

Adam and Imran confront Ryan about the beating, but Ryan sticks to his story about getting mugged. Adam is determined to bring Gary to justice.

Ryan informs Gary that Adam has had a private detective tailing him. Spotting a stranger in a nearby car, Gary's face darkens.

That evening at the pub, Adam announces to the punters that he's got photos of Gary attacking Ryan. Having his reaction already prepared, Gary is eerily non-plussed.

Meanwhile at No 1, Michael tells James that he's overheard his conversation with Bethany at the party and asks him outright if he's gay.

Michael is supportive, but when he learns that Aggie has known for years, they decide that Ed can't be kept in the dark and implore James to come out to him, too. James is torn.

While Fiz and Tyrone wait for the results of their appeal to Bessie street, they decide to hire Roy to privately tutor Hope in maths – but are alarmed when Evelyn bizarrely gets competitive and challenges Roy to a maths quiz.

Hearing about their situation, Gary offers Fiz at the furniture shop but she has to turn it down, as she's homeschooling Hope.

When Tyrone calls in at the pub to meet Fiz, he catches the end of her conversation on the phone, telling someone she misses them and needs them. Tyrone demands answers.

Now let's recap on what's happening this week.

Unclear about her feelings toward Daniel Osbourne, Bethany Platt makes a move on James Bailey after days of flirting.

But when he rejects her advances, will they be able to maintain a friendship?

Meanwhile, Daniel is having a hard time himself as he and Sinead Tinker look at hospice options for her final months.

Ali Neeson wants to kick his drug addiction but is struggling to go cold turkey.
