Author: Marianna MansonPublished 11th Aug 2020

In true Coronation Street style, the path of true love is awash with obstacles on the morning of the big day… Both the bride and groom are late, David Platt sticks his beak in, and, having clocked the looks Sarah and Gary have been giving each other, he urges Gary to think twice before putting a ring on it with Maria if it’s actually Sarah he’s still in love with.

Viewers will have to wait until Monday 17th August before finding out if this pair do get hitched, and whether Gary will be whisking his beloved off on honeymoon...

Across the cobbles, after weeks of thinking about it over, Abi Franklin finally calls the social worker and is delighted she's allowed to meet with the twins Charlie and Lexi to say goodbye before they leave for Australia.

But a freak accident at the garage traps her arm, and when she doesn't show up for their meeting a furious Seb Franklin assumes she's let them down - again.

Paul's birthday plans get snubbed

Elsewhere, Paul Forman's 30th is approaching but he's put out when both Billy Mayhew and Gemma Winter are 'too busy' to celebrate with him.

Worried his sister is unwell again, Paul speaks to Bernie Winter and Cathy Matthews but Gemma reveals there's something else on her mind.

Tim Metcalfe and Sally Webster go to live with Gina Sneddon to get away from Geoff Metcalfe and Sarah Platt and Gary Windass have some decisions to make.

CHECK OUT: Coronation Street Monday 17 - Friday 21 August:

Having witnessed the exchange between Sarah and Gary, it's clear to David that they each have some serious decisions to make.

Gary is set to wed Maria that very afternoon but he must now work out if it's Maria he loves or if he still has feelings for Sarah.

And Sarah needs to decide if she can make her marriage to Adam work, and if he will even consider taking her back, or if she will give in to her feelings for Gary.

Later on at the factory, Paul and Alina are chatting during their break when Sarah overhears them gossiping about her marriage.

A furious Sarah calls them both up on it but it's clear that other people are losing faith in her relationship with Adam already.

Elsewhere, Abi is thrilled when she called the social worker and is granted access to see Charlie and Lexie before they leave for Australia.

At the garage, Kevin is heading out to a breakdown and when Abi tells him about her meeting later on in the afternoon, Kevin wishes her luck.

But disaster strikes when Abi, alone in the garage, is working on the underside of a car when the engine slips on top of her, trapping her arm.

While Abi struggles to free herself, Seb arrives to meet the twins and grows increasingly angry when Abi doesn't show and he can't get hold of her mobile.

Thinking Abi's let them down again, Seb storms round to number 13 to demand to know what happened but is shaken to learn she's been in a serious accident.

Elsewhere, Tim is horrified to learn the full of extent of what happened between Geoff and Sally and needs some space from his dad.

Despite Geoff's excuses, Tim tells him he's had enough of a piggy in the middle and that he and Sally are going to stay with Gina for a while.

After reconnecting online and their disastrous meet up, Gemma arranges to meet up with Vanessa and apologises for Bernie's behaviour that day.

Meanwhile Paul's 30th is fast approaching and when he suggests to Billy they celebrate, Billy insists he's too busy at the church.

After Paul leaves, Billy rings Gemma and says there's no way he's cottoned onto her plans. Later Billy asks Gemma to celebrate their joint birthday but she says she's too busy with the quads for parties.

Concerned she's slipping back into post-natal depression, Paul confides in Bernie and Cathy that he's worried about his sister.

But when Bernie and Cathy question Gemma she insists she's not depressed, she's just trying to stop Paul from finding out about the surprise party.

Over at the flat a desperate Daniel calls Nicky and despite her gut feeling, she reluctantly agrees and says she's got an hour to spare and will come over.

When Nicky's arrives for her brief appointment she's surprised to find he's cooked for them and even more uncomfortable when he gives her Sinead's cardigan to wear.

Nicky tells Daniel that the arrangement between them needs to come to and end and that he should speak to his friends and family about his situation instead.

But before all that, here's what's happening this week on the cobbles...

On the day of Gary Windass's wedding to Maria Connor he pays a visit to Sarah Platt to find out what she's told Adam Barlow about Rick Neelan's watch.

She denies saying anything, but tells him that Adam is convinced that she’s still in love with him.

Prepare for an ‘OMG’ moment between the pair...

Gary and Sarah have some decisions to make

Elsewhere, Sally Webster suggests that Alya Nazir buys out Geoff Metcalfe's share of Speed Dahl but when Alya says she couldn't afford to, Sally has a sneaky idea that drives a wedge further between her and Tim Metcalfe.

Leanne Battersby wants to be a support for Steve McDonald over Oliver, Toyah Battersby and Imran Habeeb begin their adoption journey and Abi Franklin decides to see the twins.
