It's down to the football!

Coronation Street fans are really not ok with the fact that they're missing out on a whole week of Corrie episodes at the moment. Yep - and it's all thanks to the football... That old chestnut.

Last Friday (11th Oct) and today (Mon 14th Oct), all episodes of Coronation Street have been cancelled, meaning that fans are having to wait from Wednesday 9th October until Wednesday 16th October to see what's been happening in Weatherfield since the last episode.

And it's not only Corrie that's affected, either - Emmerdale fans will miss out on two episodes on the same Mondays and Fridays, but at least viewers of that particular soap will have an hour-long episode on Thursday to tide them over.

England are playing qualifying matches on those days for the Euro 2020 tournament, having gone up against Czech Republic last week and Bulgaria tonight for a spot in the European championships which will take place next year in 12 cities including London and Dublin.

Fans of daytime shows This Morning and Loose Women have been left unimpressed over the past few weeks, as ITV have had to remove them from the schedule to make way for the Rugby World Cup.

Unfortunately, there may be a few more weeks of the daytime schedule being changed, as the rugby tournament is due to continue for another month, finishing on 2nd November 2019.

Fans have been left seriously unhappy by the upset to their schedule, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts. One wrote, 'When is the rugby finishing I wanna watch this morning and loose women in peace,' as another added, 'I’m fed up of missing @thismorning @loosewomen during rugby. I can’t be the only viewer who is annoyed at ITV taking theses shows off air. Why can’t they put regular programmes on @itv2?'

Gemma's due date is inching nearer and as a treat before the babies arrive, she and Chesney manage to wangle VIP tickets to go and see the county football match.

But their excitement turns to humiliation when Gemma's enormous bump gets her caught in the turnstiles on the way into the stadium.

As the match begins and the crowd erupts into chants and cheers, Gemma and Chesney struggle to maneuver her out from between the bars.

Eventually the emergency services arrive and two firemen manage to free Gemma from the turnstile - but not before a passerby manages to get a snap of the scene.

Gemma is distraught when she realises that the embarassing pictures have been published on the front page of The Gazette and she's now being hassled by journalists.

Soon she's contacted by a PR agent and arranges a meeting in the Bistro. The PR agent insists that she could earn a small fortune by agreeing to interviews.

But Bernie isn't so sure, especially when the meeting has to be cut short after Gemma starts getting stomach pains. At the hospital, Gemma is ordered to rest and Bernie offers to do her PR for her.

Elsewhere, Bethany and James are chilling at home, discussing James' job as a professional footballer for the county football team.

Bethany is interested in the politics of the locker room, telling James that she thinks it would be a great article. What's she got in mind?

Meanwhile, Faye has been left in charge of Lily and Harry while Shona and Sarah go out for belated birthday drinks, but when Max arrives home she's in over her head.

Shona and Sarah arrive home to a house in chaos and Lily and Harry arguing about the telly. Suddenly there's a crash and Sarah's horrified to find that Harry's been knocked unconscious.

As Sarah and Harry speed off in an ambulance, Shona turns on Max and accuses him of hurting Harry, although Max insists it was Lily who pushed him.

Soon a woman calls at the house who introduces herself as Marion - she says that she's Max's grandma and that Max has been visiting her regularly. Realising Shona is drunk, Marion accuses her of being a bad mother.

Marion leaves, threatening to file for custody. When she seeks legal advice from Adam about how she can get sole custody of her grandson, Adam is happy to advise, unaware of her links to the Platts.

Later on, Shona is devastated when she recieves a message from Marion telling her she'll be hearing from her lawyers soon. Sarah is furious to learn that Adam has been advising her. How will Shona break the news to David?

Meanwhile, David's having a hard time in prison. Arriving at the medical wing for a check up, David is caught off guard to find a bruised and bloodied Josh awaiting treatment.

David's new friend Abe informs him that Josh ended up inside after drugging and raping someone, and David reveals that's exactly what he did to him, too.

Bethany is struggling with the creative writing part of her course, and Brian suggests she draw from her own experience.

Later on, Bethany sheepishly shows her work to James, who promises to keep it a secret when he realises she's written about her feelings for Daniel.

Daniel, Sinead, Beth, Kirk and Craig head out to enjoy a family picnic in Victoria Square Gardens, but there's a sombre atmosphere when Sinead has to use a wheelchair to get out of the house.

Sinead tries her best to join in with a game of charades but it's soon evident she's too sick and needs to be taken home. Settling down in front of the telly, Daniel and Sinead savour moments like these.

Yasmeen and Geoff are struggling to run Speed Dahl on their own and Geoff suggests that she speak to Alya about buying into the business themselves, since they are doing all the hard work anyway.

Yasmeen speaks to Alya, who is happy for her to invest in the business - but not Geoff, leaving Geoff livid.

But later on a smug Geoff announces that Zeedan has offered to sell his half of the business anyway, and Yasmeen assured Ayla she wants to have Geoff on board.
