Actress Catherine Tyldesley has today opened up about the heartbreaking suicide storyline that her Coronation Street character, Eva Price, has been a central part of. Catherine, who has already filmed her final scenes as Eva after seven years on the soap, today appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about the storyline.

To refresh your memories, Eva had secretly given birth to her ex-fiancé Aidan Connor's baby - but he tragically committed suicide in a shocking turn of events before he could find out he was a father.

Catherine appeared on the show today to discuss her exit storyline, which is all to do with baby Susie as her grandfather - Aidan's dad - Johnny Connor will fight Eva for custody.

For the first time, she revealed that her exit from the show would play out over August - something Corrie fans have been desperate to know since she recorded her final scenes last months.

Coronation Street stars Sally Carman and Joe Duttine are reportedly dating after a string of 'secret dates'. After attending Corrie's summer party together in July, reports suggest the couple are very happy together.

But Cath revealed that there had been a huge real-life impact of the storyline that she has seen first-hand - as many people had come forward and personally reached out to her.

She told the presenters, "Shayne and I were getting messages from complete strangers saying ‘I tried to commit suicide’. We have referred them to the right people."

She continued, "There was a huge response and you have to keep in mind this storyline has helped hundreds of thousands of people and it has saved lives. We are all in some way affected by suicide, everybody knows somebody.

"It is amazing and the Samaritans were absolutely brilliant and Calm was an amazing charity we used too."
