Do these chilling photos show Pat Phelan's final moments in Coronation Street?
WARNING: SPOILERS
Last updated 28th Feb 2018
Fans of Coronation Steet were relieved to discover earlier this month that Street villain Pat Phelan would FINALLY be getting his comeuppance.
Just as well, viewers were getting VERY tired of the whole thing.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers!
Show boss Kate Oates told Radio Times, "2018 is going to see the demise of Phelan. What I like about Phelan’s downfall is that it’s very much to do with Eileen. It’s to do with her realising who she’s married. It’s to do with Nicola and that child."
Hmm. Not very SPECIFIC info, Kate, but we'll go with it.
However, ITV have now released some VERY dramatic images of Phelan in next Monday's 5th episode.
Eileen starts their house party, but notices that Phelan is not there. Where is he really, we hear you ask?
He's discovered that the bodies he though he'd thought he'd hidden so well have come back to haunt him.
Literally...
Check out all of the photos below:
Eileen waits at the party
Eileen notices that her husband has not turned up to their party, and starts to wonder where he could have got to.
Phelan arrives at the Mill
He realises that workmen have already begun pumping the lake - where we dumped the bodies of his victims.
He's horrified to see one of the bodies floating in the water
One of the bodies is visible, so he gets on his waders and is able to pull it out.
Another body floats up
Phelan puts both of the bodies into a column mould in the foundations of the mill - he then turns on the concrete machine.
Eileen begins to worry
Eileen calls Phelan to see where he has got to - but the vibration of the phone make it fall from the scaffolding.
He tries to retrieve his phone
He climbs into the column mould to retrieve his phone because it is not full at that point.
Phelan gets stuck in the concrete
But he can't then climb out by the time he's got in there. He ends up stuck in the unset concrete while it's still pouring with the bodies he's tried to bury.
The scaffolding falls onto him
As the weather gets worse, the scaffolding falls down onto Phelan and he's trapped in the concrete and can't pull himself out. He begins to lose consciousness as the concrete keeps rising - will Tim and Eileen arrive in time?
We've got to admit, it would be a pretty sick end to even the nastiest of characters - but there'd be something quite pleasant about Phelan's death being his own fault...
Actor Connor McIntyre agrees, and says of his character, "In the same poetic ways that the bodies are going, is he going to be entombed in the concrete as well?"
He has also revealed that going back to the Mill is quite a big deal for Phelan, saying, "This is his one chance to do away with any evidence that these murders link to him. It’s real desperate measures for him, it’s fire-fighting. It’s all starting to fold in."
WATCH: Nicola's quick-thinking stops Phelan in his tracks
But Phelan is quite sure that he won't be caught, "He thinks eventually everything will work for him. He thinks he has a perfect plan; get them out of the water and get them in to the concrete. No-one is going to find them in there, right?"
He even likened his character to US President Donald Trump, "I heard a description of Donald Trump, one of his ex aides said, 'Donald is the guy who doesn’t care if it is raining outside because he is inside.' And that’s a pretty good description of our Pat, isn’t it?"
Watch the dramatic episode of Coronation Street, Monday 5th March at 7.30pm.
