Last month we reported the exciting news that the 90s TV series Charmed would be getting a reboot. And now it has been revealed that the FIRST of the three witch sisters has been cast.
Variety are reporting that Melonie Diaz, known for starring in a number of independent films, will be taking on the role of Mel, one of the three witch sisters. The character has been described as passionate and an outspoken activist who loses her way after a family tragedy.
It is understood that in the Charmed reboot the three witch sisters will be made up of Macy and two sisters, Mel and Madison Pruitt. Macy and Madison have yet to be cast. Macy, Mel and Madison will replace Prue, Piper and Phoebe played by Shannen Doherty Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano in the original 90s series.
At the time of the reboot announcement show bosses released a statement to confirm the news which read, "This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches.
"Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy and maintaining familial bonds, a witch's work is never done."
The original Charmed was about a trio of sisters - who just so happened to be witches and came at the perfect time in the 90s, especially for women - with the rise of girl power.
In other girl power news, earlier this month the Spice Girls reunited at Geri Horner's house with the former manager Simon Fuller.
Since their original meeting and the posting of THAT photo on social media many rumours have been circulating that the girl group could be up for a reunion world tour, however Victoria Beckham recently shut down these rumours when she spoke to Vogue saying, "I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour."
Instead, reports are now suggesting that the five-piece band will perform a number of 'standalone concerts'.
