Dancing On Ice is set for a sensational return to our TV screens in 2018, and now the first contestant for the new series has been confirmed as Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent.
The news was announced by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on today's episode of This Morning. Brooke, who plays Sophie Webster in the ITV soap, appeared on the show via video link and admitted she's 'really, really excited' to take part.
Speaking to Holly and Phillip, Brooke admitted she's doing the show for a challenge, but did reveal she's got no skating experience.
Brooke first joined Coronation Street way back in 2004 and she's become a very popular character with viewers. As well as her role in Corrie, Brooke has appeared on a number of other TV shows including Soapstar Superstar and Tricked.
Over the weekend rumours were rife that Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring has also signed up for the show, but these are yet to be confirmed by bosses.
Stephanie, who plays Cindy Cunnigham in the Channel 4 soap, has reportedly landed the role ahead of her co-stars Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) and Sarah Jayne Dunn (Mandy Richardson).
A source told a national newspaper, "Dancing On Ice bosses have reached out to nearly 50 celebrities in total about taking part in the new series.
"There’s a big pool of talent, but only those who can prove they have the ability to actually tackle some of the harder moves and the training will make it in.
"They really want a glamorous soap star in the show, and three of the Hollyoaks girls are in with a shout but only one of them is going to make it."
As well as Stephanie, a number of other celebrities have been rumoured to be starring in the brand new series of Dancing On Ice.
The likes of Love Island star Kem Cetinay, former X Factor singer Jake Quickenden and British athlete Perrie Shakes-Drayton have all been hotly tipped to take to the ice rink.
Dancing On Ice fans were left delighted earlier this year when it was revealed the show would be returning to ITV after four years off.
Bosses first confirmed the news back in September when they wrote, ‘Get your skates on, winter is coming. We'll be back in your lives for 2018! But who will take to the ice? Watch this space! #dancingonice’ on Twitter.
It was also confirmed that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return to host the show, with ice-skating legends Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean taking the role of head judges.
Diversity star Ashley Banjo will also appear on the judging panel, with Jason Gardiner also confirmed to return.
Dancing On Ice is set to return to ITV in January 2018.
