ITV bosses have announced that the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent has been postponed due to the latest Government health guidelines, in order to prioritise the well-being of everyone involved with the production of the hit show.

In a statement released today (7th January), an ITV spokesperson said, “The filming for the 15th series of Britain's Got Talent has been postponed from its proposed record dates in late January.”

"With the announcement of the latest Government health guidelines and with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes we, together with the production teams at Thames and Syco, have taken the decision to move the record and broadcast of the forthcoming series.”

The spokesperson then added that revised filming dates will be announced in due course, depending on when current restrictions are relaxed.

It’s important to note that in the latest announcement made by the Government this week, film and TV production is allowed to go ahead due to COVID secure protocols put in place by production companies.

However due to BGT’s format this is too big of a challenge for bosses without changing the show, as hundreds of people are involved in auditions which can have up to 20 acts trying out for the show each day.

Sydnie Christmas

Sydnie Christmas won the 2024 series of Britain's Got Talent, the singer who dreams of performing on the West End told Ant and Dec: "I cannot believe the amount of love that I've felt since it aired. I am overwhelmed with love and it is the most amazing thing.
"And I wish for one day that every single person in this room feels the way I do one day with this love. It's amazing, thank you so much!"

In addition to this, acts travel from all over Britain and the world to audition for the show, therefore ITV has said ‘it isn’t viable to have all those people moving around and travelling to London to film.’

The hit show which is presented by Ant and Dec, is famous for its choirs, dance groups and orchestras and with current Government guidelines in place it is not possible to film auditions with these types of acts who make up a bulk of the show.

Safety always comes first! Fingers crossed it isn’t long until filming can start and until BGT is back on the TV! 🤞
