Bridgerton fans can all get very excited as show star Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington in the hit Netflix series, has revealed that the cast recently reunited to watch the final cut of the first episode of the second series.

In a brand new Instagram post, Nicola shared a photo of the cast getting together to watch a preview of episode one. She captioned the snap: ‘Came to London to see these rascals and to see Bridgerton Season Two Episode One.

‘And spoiler-it's f**king brilliant.’

Show boss Shonda Grimes took to the comments to express her excitement, commenting: ‘MY FAMILY.’

Bridgerton fans have been excited for the return of the show for a while, with the cast working on the series throughout 2021 despite the coronavirus pandemic halting filming a couple of times.

Although there is no official release date for Bridgerton season two, Netflix revealed it will land in 2022. Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) will be the main star of the second season, alongside newcomer Simone Ashley as his potential bride (Kate Sharma).

The role of Edwina Sharma, Kate’s sister who also plays a key role in Anthony’s love story, will be played by newcomer Charithra Chandran and Shelley Conn will play the girls’ mother, Lady Mary Sharma.

Netflix recently released the first look at Bridgerton series two and Simone Ashley in character on Instagram, writing: 'Ask for more, and you shall receive, dear readers. Do enjoy an early view of what is to come this social season...'

The release date for Bridgerton season two is not yet confirmed.
