There's no denying that Netflix's Bridgerton pretty much dominated the streaming platform following the release of season two back on 25th March - so, it may not come as a surprise to hear that after just one week, the series became the proud owner of a Netflix RECORD.

After just seven days on the streaming platform, Bridgerton season two accrued an impressive total of 251.7 million viewing hours, resulting in the show becoming the most-watched English-language TV series in Netflix history.

After the release date was dropped, fans couldn't wait to see what gossip Lady Whistledown was going to stir up as popular characters such as Anthony and Eloise Bridgerton, Penelope Featherington and Lady Danbury returned to our screens - not to mention Sex Education's Simone Ashley making her debut as new character Kate Sharma!

It seems that Bridgerton is going from strength to strength, after season one of the show was previously crowned Netflix's biggest series ever back in early 2021, with series one watched by a record 82 million households around the world in just four weeks.

With Bridgerton season two breaking the Netflix record, in second place is Inventing Anna, which accumulated a smaller total, with 196 million hours.

Of course, you may notice that the record is for the most-watch English-language TV series, as despite Bridgerton's huge streaming figures, they are no comparison to those of Korean phenomenon Squid Game.

Popular show Squid Game currently holds the overall first-week record, with 571.8 million hours worth of viewing... Wow!

Will there be another season of Bridgerton?

Yes! It's safe to assume that most Bridgerton fans have now binged season two, however fear not, as the series is set to return for a third AND fourth instalment.

Teasing the upcoming dramas, Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, hinted to Digital Spy that romance could be on the cards for his character and Penelope Featherington, who is played by Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan.

He said: "I'm really excited to see what happens in the future," he said. "Obviously, we've gotten to this boiling point now where we have no idea how Penelope is going to react to what happens at the end of the season and where that takes their relationship, because they've kind of taken a step up this year.

"Their relationship has definitely developed, maybe not to the extent that Penelope would like it to or that viewers would like it to."
