10 things Brits do when the sun comes out
It's a heatwave!
Last updated 20th May 2020
The weather is hotting up and after just a day of sunshine it seems we all have the same ideas, having a BBQ, a trip to a park to play football, or to the beach. How many of these things Brits do when the sun comes out can you relate to?
1. Barbecue
Anything and everything gets put on the BBQ. If you're not having one then you'll definitely be able to smell your neighbour's BBQ.
2. Flock to the pub
With a little bit of sun the beer gardens will be overflowing.
3. Complain it’s too hot
We can't cope with the cold and we're even worse with heat. Having had our snow gear out only two weeks ago, we definitely did not have our summer wardrobe prepped for these scorching temperatures!
4. Chase down the ice cream van
You can hear the sound and it's a mission to not only find it but get there in time!
5. Make a mess eating the ice cream
We are so busy celebrating finding the van that we forgot it would melt in approximately 0.5 seconds. Messy but still worth it.
6. Struggle to find the right temperature at work
The air con goes on and we are freezing, but windows let in stuffy air, and if we do neither then we simply melt. Is it home time yet?
7. Kick a ball (or end up getting hit by one)
As people flock to the parks there's always a football in tow and you're either the one enjoying it, or flinching as it comes dangerously close to where you're sitting.
8. Stock pile sun cream
It's usually on offer as soon as the weather heats up, and you never know when you might run out, so why not buy a few?!
9. Buy a paddling pool
It seems like a good idea when it's scorching, but in reality it will get used once and then go moldy in the shed.
10. Head to the nearest beach
If it's not close enough to go after work, then you plan to do it at the weekend. By the time you get there the heatwave has probably finished!
Enjoy the sunshine while it's here, it might not last for long!
