What will Lady Gaga's next album sound like?

There has been a lot of discussion over what Lady Gaga's next studio album will be like, as she has previously said: "It’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before". Now that we have the first single from the album - 'Disease' - we can get an idea of what to expect from the upcoming record.

Lady Gaga's first single from 'LG7': Listen to 'Disease'

Just a few days after her performance at the Paris Olympics, she told her fans on Instagram: 'I'm so deeply touched by French fans this week outside the hotel, I'm gonna come out and say goodbye tonight - with a few seconds of #LG7.'

Lady Gaga, wearing an oversized black suit jacket, then appeared to play some clips from her upcoming album. Standing through the sunroof of a car outside her hotel in the French capital, the video shared on YouTube shows Lady Gaga with a laptop. The singer can be seen fist-pumping the air, while she plays a short clip, before disappearing back in the car.

A few minutes later, the singer reappears with her laptop to play some more new music.

Lady Gaga then confirmed she will be releasing the first song from her album in October 2024, with her track 'Disease' later landing on Friday 25th.

What is 'Harlequin'?

'Harlequin' is Lady Gaga's companion album to Joker: Folie à Deux. The soundtrack album was slated for release on 27th September 2024, the week prior to the highly-anticipated sequel film dropping.

When will Lady Gaga release her new album?

Lady Gaga has now confirmed her album will be released in February 2025. The singer revealed the release month in an interview with Vogue.

When did she start teasing new music?

With hits such as 'Born This Way', 'Poker Face' and 'Rain On Me' with Ariana Grande, and her most recent hit 'Bloody Mary' back in 2022, Lady Gaga excited fans in March 2024 when she revealed she had been back in the studio to work on some new music.

Since late 2023, Lady Gaga has been teasing she's working away in the studio. After sharing snippets of herself in the studio, working on new music, March 2024 saw her share a photo of herself lying on a bed, captioning it: 'Xoxo night night writing lyrics in bed sleep tight'. (sic)

Is she bringing out a rock album?

Well, previously the singer told fans that she isn't working on a rock album - however many of her fans didn't believe her...

In response to her admission, one fan wrote: 'i can never tell if you’re joking or not' (sic) with another saying: 'Let me guess… you’re gonna tell us you’re not really Italian next??'.

Attending the LA premiere of her concert film, Gaga Chromatica Ball, on 23rd May 2024, Lady Gaga confirmed that she had been: "In the studio every single day" - adding: "I have written so many songs, I’ve been producing so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before".

Speaking to Access Hollywood before her epic film's first screening, the 'Bad Romance' singer also teased: "I love to break genre and I love to explore music. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do."

The 'Chromatica Tour' took place throughout 2022, with the singer discussing how her creative process, and inspiration, for the new album began during the trek. She said: "Something I’m definitely exploring right now is sort of the art of intensity and I think that the art of intensity actually began during this tour. But I’m not done with it yet.”

However, other fans were just excited for the singer to be working on new music. One fan commented: 'rock, jazz, pop, I don't care. If it's something created by you, I know you'll do the best thing possible!' (sic), another said: 'Guys she just said LG7 is COMING!!!!!👀'.

After sharing some photos in a studio, in January, Lady Gaga then shared some more, all in black and white, where she can be seen playing a keyboard, and sitting down next to a keyboard and mixer.

She also captioned one post: 'Tik tok tik tok'.

The singer took to Instagram back in January to share a couple of photos from a studio telling her fans: '🖤🎶'.

With almost 1.7 million likes, it's clear that the fans are very excited, with one writing: 'WE ARE READY!! 🥹🥹', and another commenting: 'i couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2024 omg'. (sic)

The post came just a couple of months after Lady Gaga first shared some pics from a studio, using the same caption. Since then, fans have been calling out for more details of the album they're calling 'LG7'.

Lady Gaga's most recent album was 'Chromatica', which was released during the height of the Coronavirus Pandemic in May 2020. The album featured 'Stupid Love' and 'Rain On Me'.

Take a look through Lady Gaga's amazing career:

2007: Lollapalooza Festival

After she began playing piano at the age of 4, Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - took on lead roles in plays at school, and enrolled in performance courses. She recorded songs with singer Melle Mel, and started working with producer Rob Fusari, before meeting performance artist Lady Starlight who helped to develop her on-stage persona. The pair performed together at the Lollapalooza festival in 2007.

2008: Debut album, 'The Fame'

In November 2007, Gaga was signed and began writing songs for the likes of Britney Spears, Fergie and the Pussycat Dolls. In 2008, she released her debut album 'The Fame', which spawned singles 'Just Dance', 'Poker Face' and 'Paparazzi'. It was a hit all over the world, hitting the top spot in the UK and US charts with Gaga winning two GRAMMYs in 2010. She spent a record 150 weeks in the UK singles chart in 2009.

2009: 'The Monster Ball Tour'

From 2009 - 2011, Gaga took her 'The Monster Ball Tour' worldwide! Over the two years, she travelled through arenas and stadiums supporting her first EP, 'The Fame Monster', and songs from her debut studio album, 'The Fame'.

Lady Gaga later revealed that at the height of the tour - despite multiple sold-out dates - she actually amassed a huge amount of debt which resulted in her becoming bankrupt... And she didn't even know! She told The Financial Times: "I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball. And it was funny because I didn't know!"

Only finding out from her team afterwards, she continued: "I remember I called everybody and said, 'Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five No. 1 singles.' And they said, 'Well, you're $3 million (£2.3 million) in debt."

2010: 'Telephone' with Beyoncé and second album

Gaga wrote eight brand new songs for the re-release of her debut album, which was entitled 'The Fame Monster' - one of which was 'Telephone' featuring Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The Number 1 single was accompanied by a quirky 10-minute music video featuring the two stars as a criminal duo. 'Bad Romance' also featured on the reissue, and the music video became the most-watched YouTube video in April 2010. In October, Gaga became the first person to have a combined viewing figure of over a billion on the platform.

She won three GRAMMYs at the 2011 awards ceremony, and released 'Born This Way' - her second album - in May 2011. The lead single sold over a million copies in just five days, and the album hit the top spot in both the UK and US - being certified 3x Platinum in the UK and 2x Platinum in the US.

After becoming engaged to Taylor Kinney in 2015 and seeing less success on 'Artpop', Gaga chose to soften her image and be less outrageous. She was approached by Diane Warren to co-write a song for documentary The Hunting Ground about campus rape in America - something that was close to her heart for personal reasons. They were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and she performed it at the 2016 ceremony, inviting victims onto the stage with her in an incredibly moving moment.

Having been an aspiring actress for most of her life, Gaga jumped at the chance to appear in American Horror Story: Hotel as the hotel's owner, Elizabeth - for which she received the Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film Golden Globe.
