Not days later, that very same cafe was the scene of a mad dash for Katie Gregson-MacLeod's signature as three record execs arrived at the cosy coffee to await her to start her shift.

When Katie Gregson-Macleod learned the news that she had been nominated for the Ivor Novello award for her song, 'Complex' she was in the midst of chopping onions while making the North African dish, Shakshuka. Her manager called to inform her of the amazing feat and tears were shed, which she insists might have been caused by the chopping of the eye-stinging vegetable.

Katie Gregson-Macleod will find out if she is successful in winning her category on Thursday 18th May at The Grosvenor House in London.

The Ivors are considered prestigious by musicians due to the fact that the voting is considered by an academy of fellow musicians.
