Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has gathered quite a following since she released her first single 'Mean It' in 2019. She's since gone on to record two hugely successful albums (one of which reached Number 1 in the UK in 2024) and she's held the top spot in the singles chart for the last four weeks with 'That's So True'.

But ever-modest, the American folk-pop singer looked shocked to see a packed crowd sing along to the lyrics for her latest hit at a recent concert in London. 'That's So True', which was released in November 2024, has been huge on TikTok too — as has footage of a key change in hit single 'I Love You, I'm Sorry' which fans adored! We find out more about hitmaker, Gracie Abrams...

Gracie's journey to fame

Gracie released her debut single 'Mean It' in 2019 before going on to drop an EP containing popular tracks such as 'I Miss You, I'm Sorry'. She featured in Benny Blanco's 'Unlearn' in 2021 and supported Olivia Rodrigo on her 'Sour' tour in 2022. Gracie's second EP 'This Is What It Feels Like' was supported by a tour in 2022.

The year 2023 was just as busy for the up-and-coming folk-pop singer, who released her debut album 'Good Riddance' in the February and supported Taylor Swift on the US leg of her 'Eras Tour'. Also that year, she embarked on her own tour in support of her debut album, featured on Noah Kahan's 'Everywhere, Everything' single and was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys.

Gracie's second album 'The Secret of Us' was released in June 2024 and included a collab with Taylor, called 'Us'. The track has now been nominated for Best Duo Pop Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

How old is Gracie Abrams?

She was born on 7th September 1999 making her 25-years-old at the time of writing.

Gracie's biggest songs...

'That's So True'

At the time of writing, Gracie's latest single 'That's So True' has spent four weeks at Number 1 in the UK — and has been certified Silver. The track, which has been huge on TikTok, appears to be about an ex-partner moving on with someone new.

The lyrics include: 'I could go and read your mind / Think about your dumb face all the time / Living in your glass house, I'm outside, uh / Looking into big blue eyes / Did it just to hurt me, make me cry / Smiling through it all, yeah, that's my life.'

It's clearly super relatable, as scores of people have taken to TikTok to post their own videos alongside the track. And it's seriously catchy too!

'I Miss You, I'm Sorry'

Released in 2020 'I Miss You, I'm Sorry' is an emotional ballad from Gracie's first EP 'Minor'. It's been certified Gold in the UK and is hailed one of her greatest tracks by fans. In the lyrics, she says:

'You said, "Forever" and I almost bought it / I miss fightin' in your old apartment / Breakin' dishes when you're disappointed / I still love you, I promise / Nothin' happened in the way I wanted / Every corner of this house is haunted / And I know you said that we're not talkin' / But I miss you, I'm sorry.'

'I Love You, I'm Sorry'

Another Gracie song that will live in your head rent-free. 'I Love You, I'm Sorry' is a bookend to her 2020 track 'I Miss You, I'm Sorry'. Gracie previously said the track was 'personal-life BS' but called it 'uniquely special'.

The lyrics include: 'Two Augusts ago / I told the truth, oh, but you didn't like it, you went home / You're in your Benz, I'm by the gate / Now you go alone / Charm all the people you train for, you mean well but aim low / And I'll make it known like I'm getting paid / That's just the way life goes / I like to slam doors closed / Trust me, I know it's always about me / I love you, I'm sorry.'

'I Love You, I'm Sorry' has been popular on TikTok too — particularly a version including a harmonious key change, which Gracie gave us during a recorded live performance.

In the UK, it's been certified Gold!

'Close To You'

Released in June 2024, 'Close To You' is an upbeat pop track which is about doing anything it takes to be close to someone. The lyrics include:

'I burn for you / And you don't even know my name / If you asked me to / I'd give up everything / To be close to you / Pull the trigger on the gun I gave you when we met / I wanna be close to you / Break my heart and start a fire, you got me overnight / Just let me be / Close to you.'

Latest album

'The Secret of Us' is Gracie's second studio album, which was released in June 2024. It includes singles 'I Love You, I'm Sorry', 'Us' (her collaboration with Taylor Swift) and 'Close To You'.

On its release, 'The Secret of Us' topped the UK album chart and has since been certified Gold!
