Believe it or not, 2022 will mark the 20th anniversary since girl band Girls Aloud were created on Popstars: The Rivals, kick-starting the careers of Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh.

And whilst the popular band, who took a three-year hiatus in 2009, reunited back in 2012 for their 10th year anniversary, it looks like all five members could be about to put the past behind them for a spectacular 20th anniversary reunion.

Of course, if you are a fan of the 'Sound Of The Underground' hit makers, you'll be aware that after their split in 2013, Cheryl, Nicola and Kimberley remained the best of friends, whilst both Sarah and Nadine went their separate ways.

Despite reports of a feud between Cheryl and Nadine, something they've always publicly denied, it looks like the recent axing of BBC show The Greatest Dancer has made Cheryl think about the potential of a Girls Aloud reunion.

An insider told new! magazine that mum-of-one Cheryl is very open to the idea of a 2022 reunion, telling the publication, "Cheryl is in talks to make a dramatic return to Girls Aloud and bury the hatchet with Nadine so they can tour again.

"Being in lockdown and having time to reflect on what her next big step will be, Cheryl has opened her mind to working with the girls again.”

Of course, since their split in 2013, all five members of Girls Aloud have remained firmly in the spotlight.

As well as enjoying a successful solo career, with number 1 hits like 'Fight For This Love', 'Promise This' and 'Call My Name', Cheryl appeared as a judge on The X Factor and most recently as a Dance Captain on The Greatest Dancer.

And whilst Kimberley has been on a number of TV panel shows, Nicola wowed audiences at the start of the year by winning ITV show The Masked Singer, and Nadine appeared on the 2019 series of I'm A Celebrity.

Meanwhile, after winning Celebrity Big Brother back in 2017, Sarah has been a lot more quiet than the other girls, with the 38-year-old recently making her social media comeback.
