Ed Sheeran is currently on the European leg of his mammoth 'Mathematics' tour, supported by Calum Scott. While in Tenerife, Ed and Calum teamed up to perform one of Calum's biggest hits to date.
During Ed's gig on the Mediterranean island, he told his fans: "Everyone enjoy Calum Scott? I don't know if you noticed, but he skipped one of his biggest songs...
"I asked him if he would come and sing it with me tonight."
The video shows the pair singing Calum's song, 'You Are The Reason', as emotional fans look on, holding back tears.
Calum commented on Ed's post writing: 'Got nothing but love and respect for you Ed. Such an honour 💚 @teddysphotos'.
Ed and Calum's performance was a hit with fans on social media too, with one writing: 'The Tenerife gig was so special. It's in my top 10 for sure. I had the best night. Calum is brilliant too', and another commenting: 'this is the most beautiful performance i’ve seen this year! hope there’ll be a studio version or a new collaboration 😍'. (sic)
Calum released 'You Are The Reason' back in 2017, and he also recorded a version of the song with Leona Lewis, which was released a year later. The music video for the duet version of the song has now had more than 614 million views on YouTube, while his solo music video has a massive one billion views!
After hearing Ed and Calum performing this duet several fans have called for an official release, and while they haven't confirmed one, earlier this year, Calum did tell us that he has been working on a collab with Ed, and legendary DJ David Guetta.
Calum told us back in January: "Ed wrote a song for David Guetta and I vocaled it, sent it to David and Ed (Sheeran) and David emailed me back and said: ‘You sound good. David.’ I was like I don’t know how to take that! I texted back and replied ‘I’m here if you need me. Calum.’ He’s not messaged back!"
