The meteoric rise for Thurso band, Forgetting the Future shows no signs of stopping as the lads from Caithness are set to play one of their biggest shows to date at the 60-thousand capacity, famous Isle of Wight Festival. If this excitement wasn't enough for the band, they're just off the back of a gig at Broadcast in Glasgow where worldwide superstar and fellow Scot, Lewis Capaldi was in attendance and reportedly called the Thurso band, 'sexy b*stards' following their electric set last Friday in the Sauchiehall Street venue.

The four-piece indie rock band, made up of Robbie McNicol, Sam Cowan, Max Paul and Jamie Mackay, are no strangers to the festival vibe having previously played Belladrum and MacMoray with another slot at the Tartan Heart Festival in the Scottish Highlands coming up at the end of July this summer.

At the Isle of Wight Festival, Forgetting the Future will perform on the Live Nation festival's Platform One stage on Friday 16th June at 8pm. This hot slot was made their's through Amplead, an organisation who help facilitate bands, promoters and venues to excel within the music industry, having been selected amongst hundreds of applicants to play Isle of Wight through their Apply to Play service. This amazing opportunity also includes VIP treatment as they'll be helicoptered in and out of the festival site on the day of their performance.

Through a couple of WhatsApp messages with Producer Andy from MFR's Jodie at Breakfast, Robbie McNicol, lead singer and guitarist of Forgetting the Future, spoke about this amazing opportunity to play one of the biggest festivals in the British music scene...

Producer Andy: The Isle of Wight festival has a huge, historical importance in the British music scene, how does it feel to be selected to play from a huge list of artists through Amplead's Apply to Play initiative?

Robbie McNicol: It has quite literally blown our minds that we have been chosen to play this INSANE festival. We have always wanted to try and prove that even if you live in the most remote part of the UK (mainland) you can still make it as a band and opportunities like this really make you start to believe it!

Producer Andy: This is your first major festival outside of Scotland, what are you hoping to take from the experience?

Robbie McNicol: We hope to meet and make as many new fans as possible! We love playing in England, so building a fan base down there would be the dream. Also, we get to see Blonde so that’s pretty cool too.

Producer Andy: Unlike the brilliant Belladrum festival and your other amazing gigs in the Highlands, you'll be playing to a crowd who have most likely never heard of Forgetting the Future before, how would you describe your live set to people who are getting ready to see you for the first time?

Robbie McNicol: It’s tricky to describe our set but if I had to put it into words it would be; sweaty, high energy, loud, Indie-Rock with a bit of good crack and sex appeal on the side for good measure!

Producer Andy: The line up at Isle of Wight has loads of huge acts, if you could share a pint with one other performer at the festival, who would it be?

Robbie McNicol: It would have to be without a doubt The Reytons, those lads seem so sound, it would be class to get a gig with them!!

The Isle of Wight festival kicks off tomorrow and the Thurso lads will be playing their set at 8pm on Friday night. Closer to home, you won't have to wait long to see the Forgetting the Future lads on stage as they're playing Tooth n' Claw in Inverness city centre supporting alt-rock band, Silver Coast over two nights on Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st at the Highland capital venue.
