Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman lead touching tribute to David Bowie
The BRITs Icon Award was presented in honour of the star.
Annie Lennox led an emotional tribute to David Bowie, describing him as a ‘cutting edge, artistic genius’, while introducing the BRITs Icon award in honour of the late star.
Gary Oldman then took to the stage, who said the world had lost an ‘artist of transcendent talent’.
He added he was ‘deeply touched’ to accept the award on behalf of the singer.
He ended his tribute with “David you were mortal but your potential was superhuman and your music is living on. We love you and we thank you.”
To end, David Bowie's band were joined on stage by Lorde as they played 'Life on Mars'.
The 69-year-old died on the 10th January after a battle with cancer.
His son announced a month later that he and his wife were expecting a child and that Bowie had been told at Christmas he was to be a grandfather.
