It follows the success of the hit Netflix series

Squid Game took over the internet when it came out in September last year and saw instant success on Netflix, becoming the most-streamed show on the platform of all time. The show's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has now revealed that he is working on a film.

The film will be based on the book Killing Old People Club by Italian author Umberto Eco. Hwang has already written a 25-page treatment for the upcoming film which has the working title K.O. Club. He has also teased that this film: "Will be more violent than Squid Game".

As well as working on the film, the director is also making the highly anticipated second season of his hit series. The exciting news was confirmed back in November, with Hwang sharing his plans to return home to South Korea to write the next chapter in the gripping story. So far we know that Lee Jung-jae will return as Seong Gi-hun following the last season's cliffhanger, and we can't wait to see what the character decides to do next.

Speaking about making another series of Squid Game, Hwang said: "There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!

"I will promise you this…Gi-Hun will come back, and he will do something for the world.”

Although there are also plans for a third season too, we'll have to wait a while yet to get our Squid Game fix as the next installment in the sequel is set for release by the end of 2024. We can only hope that K.O.Club will come out before then!
