Netflix drop official trailer for Spy Kids reboot
The Organization of Super Spies is back in action
Fans of the hit 2001 spy-action film Spy Kids were thrilled when Netflix announced that a franchise reboot is on the way - Spy Kids: Armageddon. Not only that, but the nostalgia is about to get real, as the film is only a matter of weeks away from release, 22-years on from the first release of the franchise - which starred the likes of Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Alan Cumming, Daryl Sabara and Alexa PenaVega.
Upping the excitement, Netflix have released the official trailer, as we wait patiently for the film to drop on 22nd September. The new reboot will follow the Tango-Torrez family, with Zachary Levi (known for Shazam) and Gina Rodriguez (known for Jane The Virgin) starring as the parents of the spy kids to-be, played by Connor Esterson and Everly Carganilla.
Netflix's Spy Kids: Armageddon official trailer:
With Netflix sharing the trailer to their official Instagram page, they have teased that we can expect to see the return of classic features from the original films, with them writing: 'spy suits✅ safe houses✅ super-cool gadgets✅'. (sic)

Written, produced and directed by Robert Rodriguez, fans will be excited to know that he will once again return for the reboot.
Will the new reboot reference the original Spy Kids?
Despite the new film being a reboot, involving starting fresh with a new family and story, Robert has promised Easter eggs calling back to the first four films. Speaking to Netlfix, he gushed: "I wish I could go back in a time machine and ask myself at 8, 9 years old what I wanted to see in a movie."
With Robert being the brains behind many classic kids' films, it came as no surprise when he revealed that many studios have been after him for various reboots, with him telling EW: "I've been getting calls from all kinds of studios: 'Reboot Spy Kids.' 'Reboot Sharkboy.' Of course they want to. They're all sitting at home with their kids."
Are any of the original cast returning?
Although it hasn't been confirmed, it doesn't look like any of the starring cast from the original films will feature in the reboot. But never say never - we'll have to wait and see!
