The highly anticipated Downton Abbey: A New Era film is almost here! Having been shown some sneak previews of what to expect from the film, we now have a new trailer that gives a better insight into the storyline.

The film was meant to come out in March, but has been pushed back to 29th April, and will be available to watch in cinemas across the UK. The new trailer was shared on the Downton Abbey social media pages with the caption: 'Discover the mystery, picture the possibilities, experience a new era.'

It was already revealed that the film would see the Crawleys head to France, and we now know that the reason for their trip is that the Downton Estate has been taken over by actors and crew members filming a movie. The Crawleys escape the commotion by taking a trip to a villa mysteriously left to Lady Violet (Maggie Smith) by a man she met many years before.

Focus Features teased the new trailer would be coming out when they shared a new poster featuring the huge cast and the words: 'The legacy continues'.

The release of the poster and trailer left fans asking where Henry Talbot was, as he doesn't appear in either. Played by Matthew Goode, Lady Mary's husband Henry was absent for most of the last film as well, appearing briefly to explain he would be away on a business trip. This has left fans to speculate he won't be in the upcoming film either.

Despite disappointment over Henry possibly not appearing in the film, fans were pleased to see the other cast members back together, along with some new faces. Actors Dominic West, Laura Haddock and Hugh Dancy join the line-up and will play actors and a director in the film being made at the Downton estate.

Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, 7th Earl of Grantham and Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham
