Nestlé's iconic Walnut Whip will now be available in a nut-free version! That's right, the Nestlé Whip has been added to the chocolate range with all the chocolatey goodness of the Walnut Whip, without the walnut!
On hearing this news many fans of the nutty treat have taken to social media to express their thoughts, with one person even describing it as 'blasphemy'!
Whilst another mocked up a poster for The Nutcracker ballet without the 'nut'.
A third fan just said 'Nestle are removing the walnut from the classic #WalnutWhip due to cost. So now it's just a whip' accompanied by a gif with a subtitle saying, 'You know I can't let you do that.'
However, for as many negative comments there have also been many positive, with those who are allergic or don't like nuts rejoicing at the news. Some even posted excited gifs on Twitter.
Nestlé have confirmed that this new chocolate bar is an addition and not replacing the nutty favourite saying, “Walnut Whip remains on sale alongside our new Vanilla, Caramel and Mint versions that represent an expansion of the range. This means there is something for consumers wanting to try something new as well as for long standing fans of our century old walnut product.”
The Walnut Whip is one of Nestlé's oldest brands dating back to 1910.
Despite the excitement, this isn't the first time the Walnut Whip has been available without the walnut, in 2000 a Lemon Whip was available and in 2002 a Maple & Pecan version was released.
Traditionalists will still be able to buy the Walnut Whip in a single pack all year round and in a six-pack carton at Christmas.
How do you feel about the Whip?!
