Taylor Swift is one of the world's biggest pop stars, writing all of her six albums and over 40 singles herself. The American country and pop star has obtained massive international success, winning 10 Grammys along the way.

Her recent 'Reputation' tour grossed well over $100 million (£76 million) in North America alone, so it's no surprise that the singer recently donated a large amount of money to an LGBT group.

The 28-year-old made a generous donation of £86,000 ($113,000) to a Tennessee LGBT advocacy group, which lobbies local governments for the equal rights of LGBT people.

The group, Tennessee Equality Project, posted a letter on their Facebook page that was written by Taylor - sending her thanks in support of the group's work.

The singer writes "Dear Chris, I’m writing to you to say that I’m so inspired by the work you do, specifically in organising the recent petition of Tennessee faith leaders standing up against the ‘slate of hate’ in our state legislature."

The 'Look What You Made Me Do' singer sends her appreciation, saying, "Please convey my heartfelt thanks to them and accept this donation to support the work you and those leaders are doing."

She finished off her letter to the LGBT group by saying, “I am so grateful that they’re giving all people a place to worship." No stranger to acts of kindness, Taylor is well known for donating money to worthwhile causes and charities.

The 'Shake It Off' pop star is a big LGBT supporter, taking to Instagram last October to openly express her political opinion on LGBT rights, before voting in the state of Tennessee.

She states, "I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG."
